Our Services

The Fire Safety Director, Emergency Action Plan Director, and Active Shooter/Medical Emergency courses have been combined into one Fire & Life Safety Director (FLSD) course, delivered in two components:

• Fire Safety Component
• Non-Fire Emergencies Component (Active Shooter & Medical Emergencies)

The course consists of six live classes, held on Thursdays and Fridays over a three-week period.

Online Training Format

• Classes are conducted live via Google Meet using virtual face-to-face instruction.
• Sessions are fully interactive, allowing real-time communication between instructor and students.
• The instructor is present and visible for the entire class.
• Students view both the instructor and the FLSD training materials on their screen.
• The instructor must be able to see all students during the session.

Online Learning Requirements & Procedures

1. Students must present a valid government-issued photo ID at the start of class.
   (A color copy must be emailed to FLSD@ASNYSECURITY.COM)
2. Each online class session will not exceed 6 hours.
3. Attendance is taken at the start of class, after breaks, and at the end of each session.
   
   – Cameras must remain on at all times during class.
   – Cameras may be turned off only during scheduled breaks.
   – Students leaving the camera view without permission will be marked absent.
   
   
4. Attendance records are retained and available for FDNY audit.
5. Students will receive a PDF study manual via email prior to the first class.
6. Group chat functionality is available during sessions.
7. Instructor-to-student ratio will not exceed 25 students per class.
8. The final examination will be conducted in person during the fourth week at:
   1441 BROADWAY, NEW YORK, NY 10018

Technology Requirements

Students must have access to a computer, laptop, or iPad with a working camera.

Requirement Notice

The Fire & Life Safety Director (FLSD) certification is required for all hotels and office buildings in New York City.
